No reveal is complete without a few before images!

Remember this gem? The powder room was previously very outdated, had one heck of a horrible paint job and was overflowing with orange-y wood. The sink and matching mirror had painted ivy detailing and the vanity top was tile. Very stylish, huh?

In order to create a little more space for us in the area off of the kitchen as a whole, we decided to eliminate the coat closet that was behind the powder room, shift the room over and reconfigure the layout. You can see in the photo below where there was previously a wall.

Since we relocated the powder room and changed the floorplan, we had to jackhammer into the foundation to move the plumbing. At this time we added the plumbing lines for the wet bar that now exists adjacent to the powder room.

We had the plumbers rough-in for our wall-mount faucet and we installed heavy-duty brackets into the wall studs to support the weight of the concrete vessel sink I chose.

After drywall, it was time for tile install.

I kept the floor tile simple in order to allow the busy pattern of the wall tile to shine.

And here it is now, folks! The reveal of our small but mighty powder room.

The REVEAL: Our Powder Room with Statement Wall Tile

The gorgeous patterned wall tile and the chrome wall mount faucet combo is everything. A chrome and glass pendant light hangs in front of the mirror and reflects the light.

The wood vanity is a DIY. We cut a thin piece of wood to size, sanded and stained it ebony and glued it to the brackets. I love the rawness and texture of the charcoal concrete sink vessel sink. It ties in nicely with the slate tile flooring.

No space is complete without accessories. I used the back of the toilet for a vase with greenery, a candle and a fun box of matches.

The mirror is cool because it has a ledge on the bottom where I displayed a small vase with simple greenery for color and texture. I added some room spray to the ledge after our photo shoot. A chrome towel ring with an heirloom hand towel hangs beside the sink and I finished off the room with a small vintage rug and a vintage basket for toilet paper. Since the shoot, I also added a lidded chrome wastebasket.

  1. Turns out our powder room wasn’t living up to its full potential until we introduced it to some statement wall tiles. Now, even the toilet looks like it’s contemplating the meaning of its existence. Our bathroom’s got more drama than a soap opera, and the tiles are stealing the spotlight!
