When we first bought this house, the room that would become Jasper’s nursery was our guest bedroom, but things have a way of evolving, which is true for our homes and our hearts.
Today, I’m finally sharing the reveal of Jasper’s nursery, the meaning behind it, and why it just might be one of the most special spaces in our home yet. Read about the design plan here.

Transition from Guest Bedroom
But first, let’s recap how we got here. If you’ve been following along, you know this room was previously our guest room. The decision to add a guest bedroom in the pool house build happened around the same time our IVF journey settled into something real. Our home has 3 bedrooms, so if we were to transition the guest bedroom to a nursery and then add a guest bedroom in the pool house, we wouldn’t lose the ability to host guests. So that’s what we did.

Once we learned we were having a baby boy, prep work started. We skim-coated the walls, installed tongue-and-groove on the ceiling, hung wallpaper, and had the ceiling and trim painted…all of the messy, gritty stuff that comes before something beautiful. There’s something about transition that feels symbolic too, shedding the old to make space for the new.

Bringing the Design to Life
Once the prep was done, we got to the fun part: choosing the palette, the textures, the finishes. The clay-colored striped wallpaper set the tone – subtle yet rich, warm, timeless, boy-ish, and something that he can grow into. Beyond that, I wanted a room that didn’t yell a theme but whispered a story. Enter: the jockey influence, a part of my family history that feels personal and meaningful. My dad was a jockey and passed away when I was 3 years old. I have boxes of memorabilia and albums full of photos of him in his racing silks and in the winners’ circle, and I grew up listening to stories of the track. The idea of incorporating those things into my miracle baby boy’s nursery felt fitting and full circle. There are framed photos of my dad, his horse whip, and other racing touches in the design, all an ode to my dad. Moments that whisper story, legacy, and memory.

We reused Shiloh’s crib, and I love the nostalgia that comes with it. The same crib, a different chapter. It feels full circle in the sweetest way.

We reused the dresser from Shiloh’s nursery, but as I mentioned in the design plan, I really want to find a vintage piece for his room.

I decided to use a tall bookshelf to offset the low dresser. I love this green color so much.
