A BRIGHT, MODERN BOHO MASTER BEDROOM

MASTER BEDROOM REVEAL!!

Alright, everybody! It’s reveal time! I’m so pumped! It feels like forever since we photographed the room and it’s my FIRST REVEAL on the blog soooo YAY! Huge thank you to Kera Photography for coming over to the Digs to capture the space! Welcome to our modern boho master bedroom!

Let’s jump in!! In case you need a recap, check out the first post about the room where I showed the before and discuss our goals and plan for the room, along with inspiration images with the vibe I was going for. To refresh your memory, here’s a peek of the room after we removed the nasty carpet and had the new wood floors installed. Yes, we did the floors before we painted. :/ Things were crazy and we were juggling projects in the house, couldn’t decide on a paint color, and that’s just how it worked out. Besides, that’s what drop cloth is for.Allllll right, here’s the after of the room from that perspective! So, as you can see, we painted the walls and the window trim, installed new baseboards, put in new white roman shades and a new white modern fan. The room is so much brighter! I swear, painting that orangy oak wood trim white is the best thing since Brad Pitt. Here’s the room from the other perspective.

It looks so different and definitely has the modern boho vibe we were going for. Isn’t that rug a show stopper???  bright boho master bedroom The vintage candelabra standing beside my full-length mirror holds my necklaces. I love this as an option for displaying jewelry! I stole the idea from one of my favorite designer teams, the Novogratz. 🙂Above the bed we have a black faux deer head. A recent article I read said that faux animal heads something we should do away with in 2017. I get it, they’ve been around a minute and may be overdone, but I love it and we’ll be keeping him (at least for now). I do think he needs a little something, what do ya’ll think, maybe beads hanging from his antler?
Moving on. I love our wingback bed, it’s from Pottery barn and although I’m constantly lint rolling it due to our doggies, it’s worth it, if just for that nail head detailing! The black pillows tie in with the deer head and our Moroccan wool throw. Then I added a pom pom pillow and a few vintage Hmong pillows that I am so in love with.
Our nightstands are vintage. I found them at a local vintage shop painted that color. I love the pop it gives to the room and I love mixing new and vintage pieces for an eclectic look. The color ties in nicely with our crazy, bright multicolor rug.  🙂I kept #motd’s nightstand simple some vintage books, a plant, a small lantern from Anthropologie and we have matching gold lamps from my favorite place (read: Target). At one point I had a water decanter too, but I was moving things around during the shoot 🙂 My nightstand is jazzed up a bit with some flowers, a book and a tassel. Across from the bed, we have room for a seating area in front of the large windows. I searched high and low for two chairs for the space and finally settled on these woven Malawi chairs. I wanted to avoid upholstery since our bed is upholstered, and I wanted to bring in some texture. These are perfect! I accessorized them with pillows, a sheepskin chair pad (faux) and a leather Moroccan pouf.
I really didn’t want to hide the windows with curtains so we opted for custom roman shades in a black-out lined white linen fabric.  I’m in love with the Malawi chairs! They are hand-carved from the blue gum tree and strips of tropical bamboo.
blue floral arrangementIf you remember from my first post on the bedroom, I wasn’t quite sure what to do with the blank wall across from the mirror. I already had a bench and a seating area in the room, and we don’t need a dresser becuase we have the storage space in our closests, so I needed something different. After relentlessly perusing Pinterest for an option, I found this DIY tassel wall hanging on the Honestly WTF blog (check it out, it’s an awesome blog) and I knew it would be perfect for my blank wall. So, folks, I DIY’d the shit outta that wall hanging, thanks to Erica and her instructions. It took longer than I’d like to admit, but the impact and texture it gives the room is undeniable. And I love that I can add and remove tassels easily as I change the room.
DIY bohemian wall hangingThe gold trunk is vintage and we added some hairpin legs painted gold to the bottom to make it higher to function as more of a table and accessorized it with flowers and vintage jewelry boxes. The bohemian style rug and wall hanging coupled with the wingback bed makes the room feel like a modern boho master bedroom.
I used vintage books, jewelry boxes and a white spun fiberglass plant stand to style out the room.
You guys should know by now we can’t do anything around here without involving the Daly Doggies! Boy did Kera really nail this shot or what! Truth be told, there’s still a couple of minor things we have to do in the room (for example the small hallway where my closet is, not pictured in this post) but we’ve made great progress in the space and we’re loving it! I think we successfully created a modern boho master bedroom, what do you guys think? I love the room but am I the only one that begins thinking about the redesign immediately after finishing a space?!?! It’s not because I don’t love it how it is because I do, I think it’s because there are so many things I can do in here and I can’t wait to change it up! #callmecrazy Don’t worry, I’ll wait a couple years…well, at least one. 😉

I just love this. Colorful Boho is my thing. That rug is stunning and I absolutely love that vintage stand for your necklaces! You are so lucky to have a bay window to face the bed toward and also a great sitting spot. Beautiful work.

Thank you Morgan! I’m actually in the middle of redoing the room but I enjoyed it while it was fun and bright and colorful! 🙂
