ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 3: MODERN BOHO GUEST BEDROOM

One Room Challenge: Modern Boho Guest Bedroom

It’s week 3 of the One Room Challenge! I can’t believe it! We’re in the middle of our modern boho guest bedroom makeover but let me start by saying we did not get all of the to-do list done since our last update. Wah wah. We had to push the wallpaper install a week because we didn’t install the baseboards yet. Sometimes life just happens, #amiright?

Painting is almost Done!

We’re pretty much done with all of the trim and door painting so here’s a few updated progress pics.
This is the small hallway coming into the room, the bathroom is on the left and the walk-in closet is on the right. So much better, right? Above you can see the progress on the window trim and that door is to another small closet in the room. Ahhhhh brightness!
Here is the huge wall of windows with all of the trim painted. We’re using Sherwin Williams Alabaster, which is the shade of white we’re carrying throughout the rest of the house. If you remember from my last post,  we’re not wallpapering this wall of windows because of how many more rolls we’d need, and the amount that would be wasted after cutting it for the windows.  I’m going to install curtains so I don’t think it will be a biggie in the end. We’re painting this wall and the small hallway entry walls the oatmeal color in the cactus wallpaper. I took the wallpaper to have it paint matched and it came out perfect! So, you can see a small sample of the oatmeal paint match on the photo above.

Product Selection Updates!

I’ve made a few product selections since my last mood board, so here’s an updated, more detailed version of the direction we’re headed. To recap, I chose this wallpaper in the neutral oatmeal color since the pattern is so busy, then I’ll bring out pops of color in the decor. I am going with a modern gold light chandelier for over the bed and a smaller flush mount for the small entry hallway. I pulled the trigger on the white pintuck bedding and the bright Kantha throw. I am so in love with that buffalo print, he’s going on the wall behind the headboard and I think I’m going to freshen up the vintage white nightstands that I have and replace the knobs with something similar to the one on the mood board. I’m still considering the desk vs. dresser issue but otherwise, it’s coming together!

I’m so excited to see this room complete! The wallpaper is going to look amazing and I’m kicking myself in the arse for not reaching our deadlines so we could have had it installed this week, but next week I promise! Trust me, I am dyyinnnnggg to see it up! Be sure to visit next week to watch our modern boho guest bedroom plan unfold!

Don’t forget to check out all of the other One Room Challenge guest participants and see how they’re coming along…I’m betting it’s better than us!

  1. I LOVE what you have planned for this room! I feel you as you have been painting all that trim. I’m wishing I would have done that in our room, but it would have meant eventually painting all the trim in the whole house, which I just can’t wrap my head around, haha. So excited to see your completed room!

    1. Thank you, Julie! We have that trim in our whole house as well and we’ve only painted about 15% of it haha. :/ 😉
Thanks for checking it out, I can’t wait to see it done either!! 🙂

  2. Painting the doors and trim is already such a huge difference! I’m also so excited to see that wallpaper, it’s got such a fun print.

  3. That’s a lot of trim to paint – wow! It looks great in white. We are STILL painting all the trim in our house a year and a half after we bought it – only a couple of rooms left to go!

    1. Hahaha! Yes, we have an entire house of that ugly orange trim and we have a long way to go as well :/ We’ll get there! It is definitely worth it! 🙂
