The reveal of our moody guest bedroom makeover is here! I explained our plan to redo this room for the second time and why in this post. We removed wallpaper, sampled a gazillion paint swatches, decided on a dark moody color, added a gallery wall, new furnishings, decor….and here we are.

The Reveal of our Moody Guest Bedroom Makeover
After pulling inspiration from the gorgeous rug and sampling many paint swatches, we decided on a dark green/gray shade “kitty gray” by Benjamin Moore. To add a bit of visual interest, we added a decorative trim below the crown molding and painted the upper portion of the room a lightened version of the gray.
The star of the room is the turned four-poster bed. It feels vintage and farmhouse-y and I love how it pops against the dark walls.
The wood nightstands add some needed warmth to the room. I wanted the nightstands to be streamlined to offset the beds turned posters. I pulled in a bench from our downstairs to ground the gallery wall because the wood shade matched the nighstands.
We decided to do a gallery wall of travel photos on the large wall adjacent to the bed. We mixed black and brass frames to carry the mixed metal theme of the brass light fixtures and black curtain rods. Want to know the easy way to hang a gallery wall? Check out this and this.
The vintage armoire was a Facebook marketplace score. I painted it in with creamy white chalk paint.
I opted for mismatched bedside lighting but used pleated lamp shades to keep the look cohesive.
