My home style is all about farmhouse living with a modern twist. This year, I chose to do an earth, natural farmhouse Christmas tree focusing primarily on natural elements and I kept it neutral with just a bit of color.
Let’s take a look!
I purchased a slim tree because it’s a bit unique and I love the way they look. Full disclosure: I’m waiting impatiently for my local tree tents to get their stock so we can purchase a real tree. At that time I may relocate this cute slim tree to another area in the house.
To bring in a bit of something unexpected, I purchased vase filler of assorted balls and pods and made them into ornaments. I loved the texture and natural, organic look of the filler and was exactly what I was going for on our tree. Thank goodness for hot glue!
I knew early on I wanted to incorporate a pop of color through dried orange slices. My husband had the idea of stringing them with the cinnamon sticks to create a garland, so that’s just what we did! Soooo simple and I love the way it turned out.
Lastly, instead of a tree skirt, I opted to place the tree in vintage crate boxes that I’ve procured over the years. I’m a proponent of incorporating vintage into your home and my Christmas tree is no exception! It adds tons of character! My box just happens to be a vintage explosives box and the irony is not lost on me! 😉
My favorite tip for Christmas tree decor is to match your wrapping paper to the theme of the tree. If you can incorporate some of the same elements from the tree into the presents, as I did here with the orange slice, that counts as bonus points! 😉
