Flowers and Butterflies Little Girls’ Room: Client Project

I recently wrapped up a little girl’s room project with my long-time client-turned-friend. She just had baby #2 so in the last few months, I helped her design a big girl room for her 3-year-old so her baby brother could move into the nursery. Check out this flowers and butterflies little girls’ room.

Little Girl’s Room Before & After

We started with a blank slate. The room was previously used as a guest bedroom. They cleared everything out to make way for the new bed which was the first piece to arrive. My client fell in love with the design of the bunkbed but I have to say, the quality is poor. I was afraid it may be after reading some reviews but she could not unsee it, and time was ticking so we needed to make sure there was something in place to allow her little girl to settle in before the baby arrived. The bunk bed is super cute but we are on the hunt for a better quality, fun bunk bed to replace it with.

Early on I suggested we use wallpaper in the space. We searched and searched for the perfect fit and landed on this cute butterflies and flowers wallpaper, which really set the tone for the space.

I pulled a pink patterned rug and striped bedding to offset all of the floral patterns. I was dying to paint the ceiling so we looked at several pale pink samples and decided on Sherwin Williams Malted Milk. It’s a pretty, muted pink and I love the way it draws the eye up in the room. Speaking of drawing the eye up…we replaced the ceiling fan with this super cute brass and acrylic version which pops nicely on the pink ceiling.

The ceiling canopy crown was brought over from the old nursery. It’s Restoration Hardware and it’s no longer available. We used the same drapes and a fluffy bean bag chair under it to create a reading nook.

We added a flower box to the window of the bunkbed and it adds a nice touch. The faux florals are from Hobby Lobby, they have great options.

Opposite the bed, there is a large moon wall nightlight and on the adjacent wall we used a gorgeous bookshelf for storing books and displaying cute toys as well as these super cute scalloped nesting boxes. They are large and convenient for stashing toys out of sight.

To offset the floral pattern in the rug and wallpaper, we opted for a striped blanket on the bed. I like to mix masculine patterns like stripes, buffalo check, and plaid with feminine patterns seen in the rug and wallpaper.
