Our front entryway has seen a lot of changes. During the construction of our garage addition, we parked in the front yard and used the front entryway to access the house since the side-door access was blocked. We moved the bench and coat rack from our old small mudroom into the entry so we (and guests) had a place to put all the things. Now that the garage is completed, we access the house through the mudroom and the front door will be primarily for guests. The hodgepodge of pieces that got us by during construction served their purpose but now, I’m ready to give a quick update to our front entryway.

When it came to searching for entryway inspiration, I assumed I’d do a table or cabinet style with a mirror, a vase of florals or greenery, and a lamp. The problem with that is, there are two vignettes within eyeshot of the entryway that are just that – a table with a lamp, a vase with greenery, and a few other small decor pieces. In an effort to change it up, I decided against a table and instead kept it simple with a few large-scale pieces: a bench, a mirror, and a standing coat rack.
After
As I was designing this small space, the standing coat rack was one of my first selections. I wanted a place for guests to hang things but I didn’t want to take up much real estate on the wall. So, I swapped out our vintage hanging coat rack for this metal floor coat rack. With that in place, I had space left for a bench and instead of art, I opted for a mirror. When I was mocking up the entryway, I kept gravitating toward gold or brass mirrors but I found this one in stock and it was a great deal so I went with it. There may be a DIY in my future with some paint or rub n’ buff. 😉 The entryway rug was pre-existing and I wanted a pillow with some pattern to offset the stripe in the rug and bench. By the way, how cute is the bench? It has the perfect little leather detail.

So there you have it, a quick update to our front entryway. I think a small basket tucked under the bench could be cute and I’m itching to paint the mirror gold. Otherwise, I’m loving this small update.
