Lakefront Farmhouse Property: Client Project

Hey guys! You may remember the blue lakefront farmhouse and barn I’ve been working on? You may have seen a sneak peek on Instagram. Well, I finally wrapped up the project and today I’m sharing everything we did.

The lakefront farmhouse property has a main home and detached barn. It sits on several acres on Lake Magdelene, with beautiful water views. The property will serve as a vacation and event rental. They also plan to do a community garden and they even have chickens! The house and barn were built by the original owners 1970. It sat vacant for several years and looked a little run down, but with tons of potential. My client brought me on board to help chose exterior paint colors and to decorate the main indoor and outdoor living spaces. She wanted to stay true to the farmhouse feel but also wanted to have a little fun and incorporate pops of color and some boho elements.

Lakefront Farmhouse: Exterior

We started with painting the exterior of the main lakefront farmhouse and detached barn. After presenting a few color options to them, they decided on this deep blue hue which I think is perfect for the lakefront farmhouse and barn.

What a difference paint can make, right? We opted for bright, white trim which really pops off the dark blue. We added galvanized farmhouse outdoor sconces and filled the flower boxes with succulents and greenery. My clients hired out for landscaping and repurposed the bricks from the driveway to form a sidewalk and large patio off of the barn, which we furnished with lounge and dining areas.

My client wanted the porch of the lakefront farmhouse to feel welcoming and incorporate a table and chairs for morning coffee. We replaced the ceiling fan and added a potting bench moment.

I absolutely love the galvanized ceiling fan with the caged light. It feels very farmhouse-y and ties in with the galvanized exterior lighting.

I chose a simple white metal table to pair with blue and white french bistro chairs.

We added a simple potting bench that can double as a table for drinks/food when entertaining.

Lakefront Farmhouse: Interior

Entryway

Moving inside the house, let’s start with the entryway and living room. Immediately when entering the front door there is a nook that was fitting for an entryway bench. We used a basket for shoes and a metal wall hanging for jackets, etc.

Living Room

The living room of the lakefront farmhouse has floor to ceiling windows with views of the lake.

For the living room, I sourced furnishings and accessories to fill in the gaps around some existing furniture my client had already procured. Although my client wanted to emphasize a farmhouse look rather than a coastal one, I was able to bring in some vintage accessories that nod to the lakehouse feel like the vintage fisherman’s buoy on the console table.

I sourced a fun rug to complement the existing sofa and settee and added some woven leather chairs for texture. Accent tables, accessories and some fresh flowers finish off the space.

Dining Room

The dining room didn’t need too much because my client had a table and chairs.  The double-sided fireplace needed some love and there was an empty wall in the corner which was perfect for a storage cabinet.

This cabinet is one of my favorite moments in the house. I sourced some cute farm art and even the wine labels have farm animals on them. The fisherman’s reel was a great vintage find.

Patio

Off of the living room of the lakefront farmhouse is a screen-enclosed patio with water views. I sourced an outdoor sectional to maximize seating in the space and added a rug and some poufs.

There ya have it! My lakefront farmhouse project.
