Checking in…

Hiya, friends! It’s been a while since I have blogged (I miss it!) so I wanted to touch base with you and just give ya a little heads up about why that is and whats been going on over here.

Design Work vs. Blogging

I feel so lucky to be taking on more design clients, but with that comes less time for blogging and I haven’t found the balance yet. I want to be able to do both, the blog has been my priority from the start so I need to figure it out. There’s a lot of day-to-day behind the scenes design stuff going on that I typically don’t share until the client project is finished, but I’d like to figure out a way to blog more about the process and bring you along for the ride.

(This shot is from the most recently wrapped client project, my friend Rana’s photography studio.)

Stylistic Shift

Aside from client design work, I’ve been experiencing a little bit of a creative rut lately in terms of blogging. Or maybe it’s that I’m expending so much work and creativity into the client work that my creative gas tank is running a little empty when it comes time to brainstorm blog topics. I’m also experiencing a personal stylistic shift. Our styles evolve over time and I’m right smack dab in the middle of a change and that’s been holding me back a little because I kinda hate everything about our house right now. OK…that sounds a little dramatic and isn’t entirely true. But basically, I feel myself trying to nail down my style and make our home represent that style. I’m feeling drawn to a more muted, rustic (think old French farmhouse) vibe that leans more minimal than the colorful, boho vibe of some of my house projects. I’m definitely overanalyzing it, but nonetheless, it’s happening and I have this vision of what I want our home to look and feel like and the fact that it doesn’t (entirely) is driving me bonkers.

Exciting Things Ahead

With all of that said, there are some exciting things happening around here!! I’m working on a few client projects I’m excited about and we’re gearing up to kick off a HUGE project in the Daly Digs…our KITCHEN RENO!!!! I cannot even believe I finally get to say (write) those words. We’ve lived here two years and I have been dreaming of a kitchen reno since before we even closed on the house so this is gonna be pretty awesome. I plan to introduce the project soon and share allllll the details along the way, obvi. As part of the kitchen reno we’re also doing the powder room, pantry and office nook (which will become a mudroom) reno too so there will be lots to share soon!

P.S. Blogging or not, I’m active on Instagram and try to show sneaks using the stories video feature.

  1. OH love the kitchen inspo share. Hoping to do some open shelving myself too in the kitchen “reinvento” – cuz it’ll be less of a reno and more of a “reinvent what I already have”.

    1. Thanks, Jess! I love open shelving and in fact, we’re not going to have any upper cabinets at all! Reinventing isn’t a bad thing, big impacts can be made with little changes here and there! 🙂
