I’m excited to finally share this project! I started working with my lovely client almost exactly one year after photographing her finished kitchen. She and her hubby purchased a very eclectic sprawling home in downtown St. Pete. They started renovating right away and the kitchen was at the top of their list. The previous kitchen felt small for the size of the home. Walls were removed to open it up and windows were relocated to allow for additional wall cabinetry. My client mentioned early on that she wanted to go with IKEA cabinets and Semihandamde fronts (same thing we did in our kitchen) and that she was considering green for the cabinetry. A kitchen with custom green Semihandmade cabinets?!? I was all in from the get-go!

The Before:
The home had very eclectic previous owners. The kitchen was small and boxy and did no justice for the home. You couldn’t appreciate the beautiful windows because of all of the chaos. Oh, and check out those decals on the soffit above the sink!
The After:
After some major demo, removal of walls and new floors, we started with a blank slate. Opening up the kitchen to the dining room made the space much larger and able to accommodate a substantial sized island. It improved the flow of the home and let in more natural light. We did custom green Semihandmade cabinets on the perimeter cabinetry and used stocked Semihandmade wood finish cabinetry for the island. A stacked square zellige tile adds character and open shelves with matching wood detail on the plaster hood vent add warmth. Brass hardware, veined quartz countertops and modern lighting finish off the space.

This kitchen is very nicely done, the choice of color and material are very well balanced! I’m also trying to go with Semihandmade doors for my kitchen, would you mind to share which sprayer been used to paint the doors, what primer did you use and which paint? Also I had noticed a undersink cabinet body is painter also, have you painted all visiable base part or entire base? How the Cover panels handle paint, how many coats are needed? What will you recommend to avoid doing with Seminhandmade DIY doors. Thank you immensely, Lana
Hi Lana! Semihandmade stocks a few colors and we used stock colors that are now out of stock. We didn’t paint the cabinets ourselves. However, this is a popular option and Semihandmade sells a “DIY Shaker” that is unfinished for those that wish to paint a custom color.

Hi Heidi! This was a client kitchen project, it turned out so well. The link to #9 linking to the CLJ Cove fronts is exactly what was used on the kitchen island. However, we have thermofoil cabinet doors from Semihandmade in my personal kitchen and I don’t recommend them. The thin layer of veneer to achieve the look of the wood finish often starts to bubble after a few years. If you want a wood look cabient door, I recommend using the real thing. 🙂

It was a custom blend with the clients’ contractors. They used flooring to match existing flooring and had them refinished with a custom stain.
