Modern Boho Guest Room REVEAL: One Room Challenge Week 6

Guest Room Reveal!

You guys, I’m so flippin’ excited to share the BIG REVEAL of our modern boho guest bedroom that we’ve been working on over the last several weeks as part of the One Room Challenge. We had some stagnant weeks in the middle due to some other projects that required our attention (and there may have been a weekend away by the pool that didn’t help). I was not quite sure we’d make it but that’s all history now because WE DID IT! It wasn’t without blood, sweat and tears but we. did. it.

Let’s jump in, shall we? But first, in case you’re just joining us and haven’t been following along with our makeover, here’s a flashback of what the room looked like before. And here it is now!!

Overall, I wanted the room to feel peaceful and relaxing yet, I wanted to make a bold statement without going too over the top, and the wallpaper is perfect for what I was going for. I kept the baseline color palette neutral and added pops of color in the accessories, like the throw blanket, the rug and the pillows.

I wanted to marry modern elements like the chandelier and the furniture with boho elements like the wallpaper and sprinkle in some vintage pieces for a modern boho guest room that still feels collected.

Can we talk about the wallpaper! I really packs a punch! I am so in love with it!  Painting the trim and the doors white really helped brighten up the room. What a huge difference huh??

I chose not to wallpaper the small hallway in the room or the huge wall of windows because of the expense of the wallpaper and the waste we would’ve had after cutting it out for the windows. I think with the curtains it’s not a big deal. Of course, we had to get Twix in there! Look at him crossing his little legs 🙂  This mustard colored lumbar pillow is what my dreams are made of! I love the idea of putting together a little welcome tray of goodies for your guests!

I found that awesome macrame hanging at Home Goods literally the day before the shoot! Talk about a score.
The nightstands are vintage but I touched up the paint and replaced the hardware with fresh knobs.  Here’s the view from the bed!  There are a lot of curtain panels in there, guys.

As you may recall, I was conflicted about whether or not to do a dresser or a desk in this room. I decided on the desk because the room has a walk in closet and I wanted it to feel more like a hotel room. I really wanted this desk from Target but silly me waited until the last minute to order and it would not have been here in time so luckily, IKEA had this one that works well.

We can’t have cactus wallpaper and not have real living cacti in the room!  I figured the guest room was a great place for my vintage peacock chair to live! I love it in this space! So there ya have it!! So much work, but definitely worth it! And because I can’t help myself, here are a few side by side before and after images!
