Introducing Our Pool & Pool House Project

Hey friends! We’re finally diving into a project that has been on our dream list for quite some time: a pool and pool house! We’ve been planning this for a while, and I’m thrilled to share the details with you finally.

The Vision

First, let’s talk about the vision. This space is more than just a place to swim. This will be a complete backyard transformation. An oasis—a place where we can unwind, entertain, and truly enjoy our outdoor space. Here in Florida, we spend a lot of time in pools, especially in the summer. I’m looking forward to hosting family and friends here.

Pool & Pool House: The Footprint

As you can see, the pool will be built right off of our existing back patio. Beyond that will sit the pool house, a 900 square-foot ADU (accessory dwelling unit) addition that will also house an outdoor kitchen. We are choosing to screen in our pool and will have a cage, so we were limited by how far we could push everything out. The cost of the beams of the cage really comes into play the further you extend the cage. Although I admit, I don’t love the look of a cage, I don’t want to invest in a pool and then be bothered by bugs. I want the freedom to enjoy the pool any time of day or night. The cage will also keep it cleaner and keep the critters out.

The Pool House

The pool house will be a multifunctional space. We’re adding two bedrooms – one of which will serve as a gym. Since our primary house is a three-bedroom, having the extra space will be a game-changer for us. We will have more room for guests and I’ll finally have a dedicated space for our workouts outside of the 99-degree garage. I’m looking forward to moving the Peloton out of the guest room and into the gym and having all of our workout equipment in one space.

The pool house has an outdoor kitchen perfect for grilling and enjoying meals al fresco. We likely won’t build the kitchen out immediately but we’re planning to have a pizza oven, something I’ve wanted for a long time. I love the idea of Friday nights with friends by the pool and homemade pizzas.

Pool & Pool House Inspiration

I have been scouring Pinterest and pinning pool and pool house inspiration images nonstop.

We have a lot of decisions to make in the upcoming months regarding pavers, turf, waterline tile, and finishes for two bathrooms. I have a lot of samples coming in and am considering concrete, porcelain, non-slip marble and brick pavers for the pool deck but we will most definitely be working in some turf.

What’s Next?

We’re in the very early stages, so there’s a lot of work ahead, but we’re so excited to see it all come together. I’ll be sharing updates every step of the way, from groundbreaking to the final touches. We’re aiming to make this space something special, and I can’t wait for you to see the transformation.

Stay tuned for more details as we kick off this exciting project. It’s going to be quite the journey, and I’m so glad to have you along for the ride!
