Did you guys hear about the new Pantone color of the year for 2018? Ultra violet it is!
There is a whole backstory on Pantone’s selection their yearly color. And lots of people have thoughts on what it means – like this interesting, albeit slightly political take from Refinery 29. Ingenuity, unity, feminism – whether or not you are into the analysis of the color “ultra violet” and it’s meaning, one thing is for sure, we’ll be seeing a lot more of this color. Pantone’s color of the year typically manifests in fashion, decor and wedding trends.
I’ll be honest, I’m not too sure about this year’s Pantone color of the year. I’m not really a purple person but I am intrigued to see how people are going to use it. I think subtle accents is the best way to use this vibrant shade. I’ve rounded up a few ways I’ve seen purple used in home decor that I think work and a few home decor accents that feature the 2018 Pantone color of the year.
This slab is super unique and has subtle shades of purple in the veining.
I love the idea of painting the inside of a storage cabinet a fun color and why not purple?
This is the perfect example of bringing in a little purple without going overboard. The purple tones in the rug and accent chair balance so nicely with the otherwise simple palette and gold accents.
Like I said, most likely I won’t be painting any rooms in my house ultra violet, but I can get behind the idea of incorporating this color through accessories and home decor. Here are a few pieces I stumbled upon that feature Pantone’s color of the year. I love the bedding and the rug, especially.
