Can you believe Christmas is almost here!?! These last few months have really flown by. I was very reluctant to throw out my pumpkins and put away the fall decor (I waited until December 1st) but I finally decked the halls a little bit around here and put out some holiday porch decor. We’re traveling over the holidays this year so we did not buy a big tree or decorate inside, but I do like to keep our porch current with seasonal decor, especially since we’ve done so much to improve the look of the exterior of the house. So, here’s how we decorated our modern farmhouse exterior with some holiday porch decor 🙂
Holiday Porch Decor
I kept it very simple. I picked up a couple of real wreaths from the Christmas tree tent for our main entry and tied bows using black and white plaid ribbon. I also grabbed a couple poinsettias – I’m not typically a poinsettia fan but since our rug has some red and maroon tones I thought it would work. I think it’s imperative that you take the poinsettias out of the cheesy plastic wrap they come in and put them in a different container. I used vintage galvanized buckets.
The pups! Naturally, we had to work the fur babies in. That’s Twix the sheltie and Java the German Shepherd. 🙂
We also have a side door to enter the house, which is the door we use the most. I hung a simple garland around the door frame and placed a basket of firewood on one side of the door and a small ornamental tree on the other side. Simple, yet effective holiday porch decor.
The rugs are from Crate and Barrel but I don’t think they’re available. The basket is from Target, of course, and the galvanized buckets are vintage.

Where is that cute black bench on the porch from? Love it!
Target! But last year or year before. They may have it again, but likely not until Spring.
