Mixed Metal Farmhouse Christmas Tree

I’m excited to be participating in the My Home Style: Christmas Tree Edition hosted by my friend Stephanie of Casa Watkins Living. I’m teaming up with a group of talented bloggers to share our Christmas trees, and how they represent our personal home style. If you’re hopping over from Kelly’s blog, hi! Thanks for visiting! I hope you like our mixed metal farmhouse Christmas tree!

Mixed Metal Farmhouse Christmas Tree

My home style is all about farmhouse living with a modern twist. Our home is decorated in warm, earthy tones. I wanted the tree to fit in and feel right at home in our living room so I incorporated gold, white and green ornaments and mixed silver, gold and brown metals.

This year we upgraded to a 12′ tree. I purchased and started to decorate a 9′ tree but when my hubby returned home from a trip, he vetoed my 9′ tree and we un-decorated it and exchanged it for a 12′! He loves Christmas! And, I must say, since our living room has over 20′ ceilings, the 12′ is better for our space.

I started by wrapping the gold ribbon around the tree horizontally. The ribbon adds some texture and rhythm to the tree. Then we added the ornaments. There are several different sizes of ornaments included on our tree but the oversized ornaments really make a statement. With a 12′ or larger tree, oversized ornaments are a must!

After we finished hanging all of our ornaments, I felt the tree was missing something. I went on the hunt and found silver and gold glittered streamers and finished off the tree.

Since we typically place our tree next to the fireplace, I like to mantel to feel like an extension of the tree. I covered the mantel in “snow,” added some garland and used bottle brush trees in greens and gold to complement the tree decor. I finished off the mantel with our stockings and reindeer stocking holders.

I like to add some seasonal decor to our built-ins too. I didn’t go overboard but worked in a few cute Christmas accents we had from last year that flow nicely with the tree and living room.

There you have it, our mixed metal farmhouse Christmas tree.
