Did you guys see my Old World style Christmas tree reveal yesterday? I mentioned that I wanted to incorporate some textured globe ornaments in a muted, earth-toned color pulling from the wrapping paper that I ordered.
Isn’t the paper gorgeous? Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive in time for my Christmas tree reveal but it’s on the way. Anyway, I thought it would be really pretty to trim the tree with globe ornaments that pull from one of the deep tones in the paper. I couldn’t find what I wanted so I made my own DIY textured globe ornaments.
DIY Textured Globe Ornaments
I bought large and medium-sized shatterproof globe ornaments, removed the hook from the top and hung them from a string outside. I wanted them to have some texture so we painted them with orange peel wall texture, set to the heavy spray setting.
After the spray texture was dry, we painted with Rust-Oleum metal primer because the shade was perfect for what I was going for. After that dried, we re-attached the globe ornament hooks, and voila! Beautiful, textured globe ornaments in a custom color that fit the vibe of my Old World style Christmas tree.
I love the way the DIY textured globe ornaments turned out and look on the tree. The orange peel texture is an easy trick to achieve a unique look.
