Did you know you can use Rit dye to dye something any color you can imagine? For my Thanksgiving tablescape, I decided to dye this mesh table runner I have a deep mustard color for my fall themed table.

DIY Dyed Table Runner
The Rit website gives you formulas and instructions for a plethora of colors. I chose “blooming marigold” which called for golden yellow and tan Rit dye.
After my experiment, I was left with a gorgeous, rich ochre-colored table runner perfect for a fall-themed table.
Thanksgiving Tabletop Inspiration
For my Thanksgiving tablescape, I shopped my house and didn’t purchase anything besides some grocery store flowers.
For my tablescape, I started with the table runner and spread it down the center of the table keeping some folds and ripples in it for movement and interest. Vintage brass candlesticks hold tapers for an ambiance that only candlelight can provide. A large DIY floral arrangement in the middle using supermarket flowers and some dried eucalyptus I had on hand.
While at the grocery store I grabbed some bosc pears. The brown skin of the pears tied in the eucalyptus and complemented the marigold colored table runner perfectly. My everyday dinnerware is from a speckled stoneware collection that feels earthy and organic.
Gold flatware adds a little extra pizazz and nutmeg-colored napkins and ties in the cremone mums in the floral arrangement.
I hope this Thanksgiving tabletop inspiration encourages you to set your table this year, even if you’re not entertaining a crowd. Shop your home and make the day a little extra special.
