Dining Room Refresh Coming Soon!

Last year, I mentioned plans to give our dining room a refresh. We’ve made a couple of changes since then including new floors as part of our kitchen reno and a show-stopper brass dome light fixture but then the dining room refresh stalled. Sometimes design takes time and it’s usually better in the end because of it.

Dining Room Refresh

A while back, I purchased this rug for the room but sent it back with intentions of going up a size. Then I hesitated because I started to see the rug in other designs and I even used it in my clients living room. Here is a little glimpse of it in my space.

I love it, but I decided to hold out for something different that made my heart sing. And then, my favorite rug company Loloi announced a collaboration with Joanna Gaines and I fell head over heels for this rug from the collection.

Here’s a look where I’m headed with the dining room refresh.

I sold our black cross-back dining room chairs and plan to replace them with these bistro chairs in a light finish. Our table seats 8 but I ordered 4 chairs with the hopes of convincing my mother-in-law to give us her antique church pew. Our dining room table is an antique family heirloom that my in-laws gifted to us when we purchased our home. They had it paired with a pew and I’d love to do the same. Other than that, I’m going to keep our existing sideboard but I’m adding a large art piece above it. I’m leaning toward this one.

Dining Room Refresh Phase 2

While it won’t happen immediately, I’m considering adding wallpaper and some sort of ceiling treatment in phase two of the dining room refresh. I love the idea of a textured grasscloth wallpaper and perhaps white shiplap or warm wood paneling on the ceiling. I’m loving the look below.

There you go, folks. A sneak peek at our dining room refresh. Our chairs won’t be here until late October so shortly after that, I’ll share the updated room!

*A note about Loloi rugs. They are sold to-the-trade only but sometimes you can find them through other retailers. However, if you’re interested, I can order for you just get in touch. 🙂
