Back Patio Project: One Room Challenge Week 2

It’s week 2 of the One Room Challenge and our back patio project is coming along! After sharing the design plan and inspiration last week, we jumped right in. A few of the furnishing and decor options have changed, but I think I have everything finalized now.

Back Patio Project: Week 2 Progress

The first thing we did in our back patio project was install our new outdoor sconces. I love the copper finish against the white brick.

We also got our new ceiling fans in so we removed the ugly warped ones and hung these industrial style bronze ceiling fans.

We also decided to add a feature to our patio that I didn’t tell you guys about yet because hubby just decided to go for it over the weekend and that is wood paneling on the ceiling!

We’re installing these pallet boards right over the existing drywall. I am considering painting it white but I’ll decide after I see it finished. That hook you see is for the hanging chair that’s going up! I’m also debating painting the french doors. They’re black on the interior but I’m thinking I’ll leave them white on the exterior.

Update on Furniture Selections

For the lounge area, we’ve decided to go with this outdoor sofa (20% off right now!) and if you saw my Instagram story yesterday, I used lots of credits and a gift card from West Elm and pulled the trigger on this coffee table. In the dining area, I am loving the idea of these wire chairs with the farm table but I just don’t want to spend that much on 6-8 chairs so I am thinking of just doing 2 of them and pairing them with these metal stools or these that can tuck under the table, similar to this look.

Did you see Target’s new collection? I blogged my faves earlier this week and I’m pretty sure this rattan plant stand is going to have its moment on the patio.

What’s Next?

The next step in the back patio project is finishing the ceiling paneling then we’re going to clean everything out so we can pressure wash the floor. The patio has been serving as hubby’s tool storage/workshop space but that’s all coming to an end, yay! I was considering painting the concrete floor to emulate the look of tile using either a stencil or something like in this tutorial for a large scale pattern but I’m just not sure yet. Something is holding me back so I’ll keep you posted.

So that’s basically where we’re at! What do you guys think?!?

  1. I’m also redoing a patio/sunroom in a similar scheme. It’s fun to see another project and design!

  2. Aaaahhhh this is going to be so good! I love what you’ve done already. Those new fans are ACE and are going to look incredible with the wood panels. Can’t wait to see what else you’ve got in store!

    1. Thank you, Marlene! The wood panels were not in the original plan, but hey, when hubby wanted to go for it what was I to say? HAH! Thanks for taking a peek! 🙂
