A Surprise Rustic Backyard Party for my Hubby!

A Surprise Rustic Backyard Party for my Hubby!

If you follow me on Instagram then you may know that a couple of weeks ago I hosted a surprise rustic backyard party for my hubby’s 35th birthday. I started planning a few months ago and keeping the secret was BRUTAL and exhausting! The One Room Challenge back patio makeover was partly a disguise so I could have a reason to hurry him along to help me finish the patio in time for the party!! The joke’s on him! 🙂 About 10 family members flew in from up north as well as friends from South Carolina and Kentucky totaling about 50 guests. We successfully kept it a secret and when he pulled in the driveway home from work, he was completely shocked! I love planning a good surprise, and this one is my best yet!

Here are some fun shots from the day taken by my amazing photographer friend Ashlee!

Waiting impatiently for his arrival! The money shot! Look at that face! Too surprised to close the car door 😉 That’s his mamma he’s hugging there. Be still my heart. … Read more

Six Tips for Hosting a Fall Dinner Party

Six Tips for Hosting a Fall Dinner Party

Fall has officially arrived! In Florida, that means it’s still summer. The struggle is real. But with cooler evenings on the horizon (I’m hopeful) and the holiday season upon us, this time of year is perfect for entertaining. Today I’m serving up some inspiration for hosting a fall dinner party that merges elements of summer with those of fall for the perfect dinner party to celebrate the new season.
This project has been featured over on The Sweetest Occasion, a great entertaining blog to follow! Thank you, Cyd for featuring our shoot!

Tips for Hosting a Fall Dinner Party

1. Take it outside!

The beginning of fall is the perfect time to take your gathering outside and enjoy dinner in the crisp air. Backyard entertaining doesn’t have to be boring. Our use of a soft linen runner and gold flatware elevate this gathering, proving that a backyard dinner party can be elegant.

2. Serve a garden-to-table inspired menu.

A garden-to-table dinner is a great way to provide an ode to fall by featuring autumn hues and ingredients. The warm tones and autumn vegetables suggest fall while served alongside bright white dinnerware quintessential of a summer soiree, the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and beginning of fall.

OK you guys! Get ready for some glam holiday party inspiration!green-holiday-party-inspiration

Remember how I told you guys I used to own a vintage rental and styling company? Well, before closing the doors to my business, I did one last wedding styled shoot hoorah with my dear friend Emily. You guys know Emily, she snapped the pics in my post about how to host an easy Fall brunch. A “styled shoot” in the wedding industry is when a lot of wedding vendors come together and basically put on a fake wedding. Each vendor typically donates their time and services in order to network, exercise some creative freedom, push boundaries and/or experiment with new techniques, and everyone involved gets the images to use for marketing. We enlist everything you would need for a wedding, down to the “bride” and “groom.” I conceptualized and styled the shoot, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team for my last wedding shoot with my industry friends!  Annnndddd I’m so happy that my favorite wedding blog, Green Wedding Shoes, featured our work!

I love brunch. I love entertaining. However, I’m not the best in the kitchen so I typically try to prepare dishes that are easy, that I can prep the day or night before so I can spend more time focusing on the things that I enjoy more (like place settings haha). This also helps free me up to mingle with the guests when they arrive and not be chained to the kitchen stove.

Easy Fall Brunch Inspiration

We recently hosted some friends over for brunch. It was right after the official day of fall so of course, I would go all out with the traditional fall theme. Even though here in Florida early fall means nothing to the weather man. Despite the hot, muggy weather, I was determined to create a cozy, fall brunch, dammit.… Read more
