Flowers and Butterflies Little Girls’ Room: Client Project

Flowers and Butterflies Little Girls’ Room: Client Project

I recently wrapped up a little girl’s room project with my long-time client-turned-friend. She just had baby #2 so in the last few months, I helped her design a big girl room for her 3-year-old so her baby brother could move into the nursery. Check out this flowers and butterflies little girls’ room.

Little Girl’s Room Before & After

We started with a blank slate. The room was previously used as a guest bedroom. They cleared everything out to make way for the new bed which was the first piece to arrive. My client fell in love with the design of the bunkbed but I have to say, the quality is poor. I was afraid it may be after reading some reviews but she could not unsee it, and time was ticking so we needed to make sure there was something in place to allow her little girl to settle in before the baby arrived. The bunk bed is super cute but we are on the hunt for a better quality, fun bunk bed to replace it with.… Read more

Kitchen Remodel with Green Semihandmade Cabinets: Client Project

Kitchen Remodel with Green Semihandmade Cabinets: Client Project

I’m excited to finally share this project! I started working with my lovely client almost exactly one year after photographing her finished kitchen. She and her hubby purchased a very eclectic sprawling home in downtown St. Pete. They started renovating right away and the kitchen was at the top of their list.  The previous kitchen felt small for the size of the home. Walls were removed to open it up and windows were relocated to allow for additional wall cabinetry. My client mentioned early on that she wanted to go with IKEA cabinets and Semihandamde fronts (same thing we did in our kitchen) and that she was considering green for the cabinetry. A kitchen with custom green Semihandmade cabinets?!? I was all in from the get-go!

A Neutral Safari Nursery: Client Project

A Neutral Safari Nursery: Client Project

It’s the third and final reveal of my traditional meets modern client project. Earlier this week I shared the dining and living rooms, the moody game room and today is all about the neutral safari nursery for their sweet babe.

A Neutral Safari Nursery: Client Project

My clients waited until birth to find out what they were having. So when it came to designing the nursery, we kept it neutral. My client loved the idea of a safari theme, so we did that in a soft, muted palette. After my clients had their baby girl, we added a few elements to make the nursery feel more feminine, most notably the carved wood ceiling crib crown and drapery canopy.

I wanted to find a unique crib for my clients and something a bit out of the norm. The whitewashed house crib from Restoration Hardware was perfect. The carved wood crib crown and drapery elevates and softens the look of the crib.… Read more

A Moody Game Room Refresh: Client Project

Yesterday I shared the dining and living room of my traditional meets modern client project and today is all about their moody game room.

A Moody Game Room Refresh: Client Project

This room sits right off the front entry of my clients home so they wanted it to feel uncluttered and put-together. The wall color was preexisting, a dark blue, that my clients wanted to keep. We also kept their shuffleboard table and industrial bar cart.

We replaced the old pool table light fixture with a gorgeous nickel pendant light over the round wood dining table that serves as a game table.

Warm tones and textures in the cowhide rug and leather chairs complement the moody, masculine feel of the space.

We added a reclaimed wood shelf and stools to create a bar and extra seating in the room convenient for entertaining.

We stocked the bar and accessorized the room with greenery, a marble chessboard, and art my clients sourced from local markets.… Read more

A Traditional Meets Modern Family Home: Client Project

A Traditional Meets Modern Family Home: Client Project

I have been working with my lovely clients for the past several months to furnish and decorate several rooms in their traditional meets modern family home including the open concept dining and living room, rec room and more recently a nursery for their sweet baby girl. Although the bones of the home are traditional in style, their personal style leans a bit more modern, fun and laid-back, much like their personalities. They have a pet dog and a new baby so we focused on comfort and function while maintaining an updated, fresh look. We merged affordable, casual pieces and accessories with a few investment pieces to create a look and feel that is approachable yet refined.

I’ll share more on the rec room and nursery later this week but today is all about the open concept dining and living space.

A Modern Primary Bedroom Refresh: Client Project

A Modern Primary Bedroom Refresh: Client Project

You may have seen on Instagram that I helped my dear photographer friend Rana with Roohi Photography to refresh her bedroom. She was craving a fresh modern look, with new paint and furniture including an upgrade to a king size bed. She had a few requests at the beginning of the design process: a storage solution for her jewelry, a platform bed, a floor fan, and a place to display family photos, something Rana champions. Check out what we did for her modern primary bedroom refresh.

Here is how the room looked before we started.

A Modern Primary Bedroom Refresh: The Reveal

First, we updated the wall color with fresh white paint. Immediately the room felt brighter and larger.

We added a black metal platform bed frame and wood nightstands to warm up the space.

The floorplan stayed the same but all the furniture and decor was updated.

A wall-mounted armoire meets Rana’s jewelry storage needs and doubles as a mirror.

I love the brass wall sconces and the nightstands so much!

We added vintage textile pillows and a large woven wall hanging for texture.… Read more

Lakefront Farmhouse Property: Client Project

Lakefront Farmhouse Property: Client Project

Hey guys! You may remember the blue lakefront farmhouse and barn I’ve been working on? You may have seen a sneak peek on Instagram. Well, I finally wrapped up the project and today I’m sharing everything we did.

The lakefront farmhouse property has a main home and detached barn. It sits on several acres on Lake Magdelene, with beautiful water views. The property will serve as a vacation and event rental. They also plan to do a community garden and they even have chickens! The house and barn were built by the original owners 1970. It sat vacant for several years and looked a little run down, but with tons of potential. My client brought me on board to help chose exterior paint colors and to decorate the main indoor and outdoor living spaces. She wanted to stay true to the farmhouse feel but also wanted to have a little fun and incorporate pops of color and some boho elements.

Lakefront Farmhouse: Exterior

We started with painting the exterior of the main lakefront farmhouse and detached barn. After presenting a few color options to them, they decided on this deep blue hue which I think is perfect for the lakefront farmhouse and barn.… Read more

Client Project: Earthy Modern Boho Nursery Project

Client Project: Earthy Modern Boho Nursery Project

Last year I was honored to help my friend Jessica and her hubs Chris design and style a nursery for baby Jackson. Jess and Chris love the outdoors so I designed an earthy modern boho nursery with an ode to little forest animals. Jessica had selected a couple of pieces but needed help pulling the rest of the look together, and I was happy to help!
We used the rug as inspiration and with its earthy tones and a tribal pattern, it set the tone for the room. We brought in a red-brown dresser which tied in perfectly with the rug.
The cute forest animal bedding ties in with the baby fox framed print and fox bookends.
To style the bookshelves, we use Jackson’s baby books with some of Jessica and Chris’ existing collection of vintage cameras and props, including binoculars given to Jessica by her grandpa.
The mobile was a DIY made by Jessica made from a dreamcatcher she made in college paired with feathers and mini forest animals.
The rocking chair is a family heirloom and belonged to Chris’ grandmother.

A Contemporary Photography Studio Makeover

Last fall my sweet friend Rana of Roohi Photography went and got herself a new, spacious studio space and I’m flattered that she asked me to help with the design. Her new and improved contemporary photography studio has been finished for a while but we just recently got around to photographing it, so today I’m finally showing it off!!

a contemporary photography studio

The studio is about 900 sq ft total and is divided into two equally sized rooms. The front room has a full wall of floor to ceiling windows that provide amazing natural light. We divided the room into two zones, a comfy lounge area with a mounted TV for client consultations and presentations, and a more formal area with a dining table and cafe chairs. contemporary photography studio contemporary photography studio client presentation area

The change that made the biggest impact in the makeover was replacing the ceiling tiles. The old ones were basic office ceiling tiles (you know the ones) but replacing them with these traditional style white tiles really elevated the space and gave it a polished look.… Read more

West Indies Inspired Lanai Makeover

West Indies Inspired Lanai Makeover

When my friend asked me to help her redesign her lanai and make it into a tropical oasis, I jumped at the opportunity. Craving an updated look to match the vibe of the rest of her home, we discussed her goals for the space. She wanted a blue and white color scheme with pops of color, an area for dining and lounging, and for it feel relaxing like you were on vacation in the islands. A West Indies inspired lanai was what she was going for.

A West Indies Inspired Lanai in the Making

Here’s a look at her space before. She was willing to replace all of her furniture, making it super fun for me 🙂

I put together some ideas and developed this West Indies inspired mood board consisting of lots of blue and white patterns with pops of yellow and orange throughout, banana leaf print, wicker and terra cotta textures and lots of greenery.

And here’s her finished West Indies inspired lanai all styled out and photographed beautifully by my lovely friend Ashlee Hamon Photography.
