Craft Paper Gift Wrap Ideas

Craft Paper Gift Wrap Ideas

Tis’ the season to wrap gifts! I love gift wrapping, it’s an art – it literally is an art in Japan. A beautifully wrapped gift makes the gift much sweeter, I think. While I love beautiful printed wrapping papers, I also love the simplicity of craft paper and its versatility. You have to see these craft paper gift wrap ideas. I used the same paper and dressed them up creating 3 completely different looks.

Craft Paper Gift Wrap Ideas: 3 Looks

Nostalgic

For my first look, I used craft paper and a large vintage-looking candy cane coupled with a cute Christmas green striped ribbon. I added a small sprig of faux greener with a gold ornament to top it off and this gift feels so nostalgic with the classic Christmas colors and stripes. The candy cane is such a cute touch.

Woodsy

For my next look, I wanted to lean into the brown color of the craft paper itself and give it a more masculine vibe. I chose a woodsy theme and used natural colors and elements like wood and worn leather.… Read more

Toddler Gift Ideas

Toddler Gift Ideas

I don’t always have it together when it comes to gifts but I feel like this year I nailed it! Shiloh is 2.5 so she definitely understands the concept of Christmas and gift-giving, but she hasn’t asked me for anything specific. This is probably the last year for that! I rounded up a few gifts I’m getting for Shiloh, a couple of things she has and loves and then I asked my toddler mamma friends what they’re getting the littles. So this is a pretty solid list with some great ideas for the little people in our lives.

Toddler Gift Ideas

  1. Balance Bike – Balance bikes are bikes without wheels designed to give children the confidence to ride. They allow toddlers to learn to ride independently from the very start, without relying on training wheels.
  2. Kids Knives – Shiloh is always asking to help mamma in the kitchen when I’m making dinner and I think this is a great way to incorporate her into the process. I read that children involved in meal preparation eat better because they can respect and appreciate the process.

DIY Textured Globe Ornaments

DIY Textured Globe Ornaments

Did you guys see my Old World style Christmas tree reveal yesterday? I mentioned that I wanted to incorporate some textured globe ornaments in a muted, earth-toned color pulling from the wrapping paper that I ordered.

Isn’t the paper gorgeous? Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive in time for my Christmas tree reveal but it’s on the way. Anyway, I thought it would be really pretty to trim the tree with globe ornaments that pull from one of the deep tones in the paper. I couldn’t find what I wanted so I made my own DIY textured globe ornaments.

DIY Textured Globe Ornaments

I bought large and medium-sized shatterproof globe ornaments, removed the hook from the top and hung them from a string outside. I wanted them to have some texture so we painted them with orange peel wall texture, set to the heavy spray setting.

After the spray texture was dry, we painted with Rust-Oleum metal primer because the shade was perfect for what I was going for. After that dried, we re-attached the globe ornament hooks, and voila!… Read more

Old World Style Christmas Tree Inspiration

Hi friends! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I love participating in the Christmas tree blog hop hosted by my friend Stephanie over at Casa Watkins Living.  (Click here to see what I did last year.) I think this year’s tree is my favorite yet! If you’re coming over from Roxanne at The Honeycomb Home, welcome and thanks for being here!

Old World Style Christmas Tree

When considering how to decorate our tree this year, I wanted to lean into the color scheme of our home and carry it through the tree trimmings.  If you follow along on Instagram, then you know that I first decided to paint some of our bright white globe ornaments a more muted khaki color. Then I stumbled upon these candle ornaments and was inspired to try an Old World style Christmas tree this year.

Black and Green Edgy Farmhouse Christmas Tree

Black and Green Edgy Farmhouse Christmas Tree

It’s that time of year! I’m excited to be participating in the My Home Style Christmas Tree Blog Hop again this year hosted by my friend Stephanie. If you’re hopping over from Tag & Tibby, welcome! A total of 30 bloggers shared a variety of Christmas tree looks! Each blogger and their Christmas tree blog post is linked at the end so please hop around. This year I brought in some drama and added black accents to create an edgy farmhouse Christmas tree. Let’s get into it!

Black & Green Edgy Farmhouse Christmas Tree

We have a 12′ mixed needle Christmas tree from the At Home store. This tree really calls for some large bulb ornaments so I used my existing white glitter ones and added smaller ornaments in black, white and green.

Black velvet ribbon adds a little drama and edge to the tree but I balanced it with white ornaments, white snowflake ribbon and some wood-toned ornaments.

I like to change up my shelf styling on the built-in to match the tree so I used existing bottle-brush trees I had from last year with a few new purchases sprinkled in.… Read more

DIY Dyed Table Runner

The Rit website gives you formulas and instructions for a plethora of colors. I chose “blooming marigold” which called for golden yellow and tan Rit dye.

After my experiment, I was left with a gorgeous, rich ochre-colored table runner perfect for a fall-themed table.

Thanksgiving Tabletop Inspiration

For my Thanksgiving tablescape, I shopped my house and didn’t purchase anything besides some grocery store flowers.

For my tablescape, I started with the table runner and spread it down the center of the table keeping some folds and ripples in it for movement and interest. Vintage brass candlesticks hold tapers for an ambiance that only candlelight can provide. A large DIY floral arrangement in the middle using supermarket flowers and some dried eucalyptus I had on hand.… Read more
