Did you guys hear about the new Pantone color of the year for 2018? Ultra violet it is!
There is a whole backstory on Pantone’s selection their yearly color. And lots of people have thoughts on what it means – like this interesting, albeit slightly political take from Refinery 29. Ingenuity, unity, feminism – whether or not you are into the analysis of the color “ultra violet” and it’s meaning, one thing is for sure, we’ll be seeing a lot more of this color. Pantone’s color of the year typically manifests in fashion, decor and wedding trends.
I’ll be honest, I’m not too sure about this year’s Pantone color of the year. I’m not really a purple person but I am intrigued to see how people are going to use it. I think subtle accents is the best way to use this vibrant shade. I’ve rounded up a few ways I’ve seen purple used in home decor that I think work and a few home decor accents that feature the 2018 Pantone color of the year.
This slab is super unique and has subtle shades of purple in the veining.… Read more
Can you believe Christmas is almost here!?! These last few months have really flown by. I was very reluctant to throw out my pumpkins and put away the fall decor (I waited until December 1st) but I finally decked the halls a little bit around here and put out some holiday porch decor. We’re traveling over the holidays this year so we did not buy a big tree or decorate inside, but I do like to keep our porch current with seasonal decor, especially since we’ve done so much to improve the look of the exterior of the house. So, here’s how we decorated our modern farmhouse exterior with some holiday porch decor 🙂
Holiday Porch Decor
I kept it very simple. I picked up a couple of real wreaths from the Christmas tree tent for our main entry and tied bows using black and white plaid ribbon. I also grabbed a couple poinsettias – I’m not typically a poinsettia fan but since our rug has some red and maroon tones I thought it would work. I think it’s imperative that you take the poinsettias out of the cheesy plastic wrap they come in and put them in a different container.… Read more
You guys, I love woven chairs and hanging woven chairs are even better. They are fun, versatile and add a unique element to a space. You can use them inside or out. Just imagine them with a couple of throw pillows and a fluffy blanket. Since the hanging chair we originally chose for a client project was on backorder for like ever, I had to find a replacement. I was scouring lots of hanging chairs so I figured I’d round some of my faves up for you guys. Hanging chairs come in different shapes, sizes and colors. You can even find double chairs that seat 2 as well (#8 below) as woven hanging benches (#10 below)!

I actually connected with Katharine via Instagram while we were in Peru (the power of social media). She saw that I was there and was kind enough to suggest a few not-to-miss places for us to work into our itinerary. She was in the middle of one of her shopping trips, which she does a few times a year, how amazing is that?! Be sure to follow Katharine and her adventures on Instagram and check out her awesome online shop filled with colorful textiles and home goods!
