Budget-Friendly Nursery Bathroom Makeover…now overbudget!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know we’ve been working hard the last month on the nursery bathroom makeover. We had hoped to redo the bathroom relatively quickly and on a $3k maximum budget, saving money where we can. We’ve made a ton of progress in the space, but we’re over budget. Wah wah. Let’s jump in and I’ll explain.

Nursery Bathroom Makeover Update

Here’s what we started with:

Here’s where we’re at currently.

The new tile and vanity are in, baseboards are installed and I’m happy to report, we removed the soffit box and repaired the drywall. We have a faux wood beam on order that will be installed in the corner to cover the vent pipe and electrical cord that is currently visible. How to Reglaze A Bathtub and Tile Surround

When we kicked off the nursery bathroom makeover, I mentioned we chose to reglaze the bathtub and tile surround to save time and money, especially since it was all in good shape, just ugly. The tile was discolored due to water stains and the tub was a dark biscuit color. Bleh. You guys were so interested in this project so I’m going to share what I can. Introduction to our Budget-Friendly Bathroom Makeover

Introduction to our Budget-Friendly Bathroom Makeover

All the progress on the nursery had me itching to freshen up the nursery en suite bathroom. The nursery was serving as a catch-all room prior to its makeover so the attached bathroom didn’t really get a lot of use. Therefore, we had no reason to give it any attention…until now. Aside from removing the carpet from the bathroom when we moved in (yes, carpet!) we hadn’t done anything else in the space. Since we have a lot of expenses associated with the nursery and impending arrival of babe, this last-minute project would have to be a budget-friendly bathroom makeover. We decided we would try to keep this project under $3000.
