Edgy, Glam Holiday Party Inspiration

OK you guys! Get ready for some glam holiday party inspiration!green-holiday-party-inspiration

Remember how I told you guys I used to own a vintage rental and styling company? Well, before closing the doors to my business, I did one last wedding styled shoot hoorah with my dear friend Emily. You guys know Emily, she snapped the pics in my post about how to host an easy Fall brunch. A “styled shoot” in the wedding industry is when a lot of wedding vendors come together and basically put on a fake wedding. Each vendor typically donates their time and services in order to network, exercise some creative freedom, push boundaries and/or experiment with new techniques, and everyone involved gets the images to use for marketing. We enlist everything you would need for a wedding, down to the “bride” and “groom.” I conceptualized and styled the shoot, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team for my last wedding shoot with my industry friends!  Annnndddd I’m so happy that my favorite wedding blog, Green Wedding Shoes, featured our work!

Now, on to the shoot. Even though this shoot was conceptualized as wedding inspiration, I’m sharing it here on Daly Digs because its soo good you guys. And you know by now I have this thing with styling tablescapes. The shoot was created to serve as wedding inspiration , but lemme tell ya a little secret, these ideas translate and make great inspiration for anyone looking to throw a rockin’ holiday party.

My goal when conceptualizing this shoot was to create a woodsy, edgy holiday vibe without feeling too over the top Christmas. I decided to keep the color palette simple, focusing on emerald green, black, ivory and gold, and add depth by bringing in various textures. I wanted it to feel a little more on the glam side, an event that your guests would dress up to attend.

Let’s jump in, shall we?

Ahhh it’s sooo pretty! My neighbors’ pine trees provided the perfect backdrop for our woodsy vibe. I used a farm table coupled with dramatic black chairs. A plush greenery garland and floral arrangements lined the center of the table with vintage candy dishes and goblets. black-and-green-tablescape-in-the-woods

Let’s talk about the place settings. I used gold chargers and black plates from Ikea! Isn’t that matte black flatware genius!?! (Similar here). I tied ivory napkins with gold trim in a knot and placed them on top of the plate, alongside the hand-painted macarons, which were nestled in a bed of moss and served as place cards.

No party is complete without a bar cart!holiday bar cartTo style the bar cart, I used a greenery garland and a sheepskin (faux) on the bottom for texture. A vintage gold tray held vintage goblets.

Would ya look at that cake?! It is GOR-GEOUS! And those handpainted cookies by my friend Michelle are made with such precision I can’t even comprehend. (Michelle made the pies from the Pies and Pints post, remember?) green-black-woodsy-desserts

Obviously, you likely don’t need a four tier cake for your holiday party (if you do, that sounds like one heck of a party) but two tiers inspired by this cake sure would impress your guests. My favorite tip when using cakes in your entertaining is to USE A KILLER CAKE STAND! It can really add a lot to the visual presentation of any cake. holiday-party-handpainted-macarons-and-cookiesSpeaking of dessert displays, this cute woodsy two-tiered server was so perfect for the concept of this woodsy party. What do you guys think of the project? I love it sooo much and it’s perfect for a glam holiday party – or New Years for that matter!

And because I can’t resist, here are a few of the wedding-ish shots!

Thanks so much to everyone that helped make the vision a reality!
