For this cocktail, I used the traditional French martini recipe but added a fall twist by replacing the pineapple juice with pomegranate juice.

Foggy French (ish) Martini Recipe:
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1.5 oz pomegranate juice
  • .5 oz pomegrante juice
  • Handful of ice
  • Dry ice* (optional)

Pour the Chambord, vodka and pomegranate juice in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain into martini glass. Garnish with raspberries, blackberries or an almost dead rose. Add dry ice if you choose and aatch the magic happen.

Black Bat Martini

black charcoal martini

Have you guys heard of activated charcoal? Activated charcoal is known for health benefits and helping rid your body of toxins. Activated charcoal can be added to cocktails and is perfect if you’re looking to create a jet black Halloween cocktail. It can be found at most health food stores. For drink mixing, look for it in powder form. Some say it helps reduce hangover symptoms due to  its purifying properties, so you’re definitely winning with this black bat martini.  This recipe was inspired by this Black Friday Detox Cocktail on Sugar and Cloth that was created by The Good Drink, I just swapped the beet juice for cherry juice and ginger liquor for honey ginger syrup.

Black Bat Martini Recipe:
  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cherry juice
  • .5 oz lime juice
  • .5 oz ginger liquor
  • 1 dose (generally 520 mg or the contents of 2 capsules) activated charcoal powder
  • Handful of ice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Shake and strain into a martini glass. I found the bat stickers at Target and adhered one to the rim of the glass.

Mysterious Maple Whisky Recipe:
  • 1.5 oz Woodford Reserve
  • 1.5 oz apple cider/juice
  • .5 oz lemon juice
  • .5 oz maple syrup
  • Handful of ice
  • Dry ice* (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a glass, stir and enjoy.

Ghostly Russian

A spin on a white Russian, this martini is easy and delish. It uses midnight Kahlua, which weighing in at 70 proof, I didn’t find the need for vodka but feel free to experiment. On a side note, do you guys remember these ghost LED lights from my last Things I’m Diggin’ post? I thought they were the perfect compliment to this ghostly Halloween cocktail.

Ghostly Russian Recipe:
  • 2 oz. Midnight Kahlua
  • 2 oz. heavy cream
  • Handful of ice
  • Dry ice* (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a shaker, strain into martini glass. Garnish with marshmallow.

*A few things about dry ice.

Guys, when making your Halloween cocktail, please use care if you’re handling dry ice. Dry ice can usually be found at grocery stores, especially around Halloween when they put a few special dry ice coolers around the store – at least that was the case with my local Publix. Don’t be intimidated by dry ice, just be sure not to touch it directly with your hands and do not chew or swallow it! It will melt in your cocktail after a few minutes, so wait until it melts to consume your cocktail. Dry ice comes in a block, so use a knife to break it up and remove from the bag with tongs. If you’re making a big punch bowl, try putting the dry ice in cheese cloth to ensure its protected until it melts.

Happy Halloween everyone! Let me know what you think of the cocktails!

  1. So if you need someone to come over and do a quality control test, I’m your girl! These look delicious, great job!

  2. These are amazing! I love the ones with the fog! It would be awesome to see several people at a party walking around with foggy drinks!

  3. I never thought about adding activated charcoal to drinks to make them black! haha – i guess it would be good / bad? because it would absorb some of the alcohol as you drink it.
